It’s the last day of 2018 and many of us may be thinking of what our New Years Resolutions will be for 2019. I always found there to be a lot of pressure with a New Year Resolution. Therefore, I decided that this year I am going to approach 2019 by setting a few goals accompanied by intentions to focus on.
First of all, what’s the difference between Goals and Intentions? To break it down simple:
Goals = Future
Intentions = Now
Write out a few goals of what you’d like to accomplish in 2019, then say them out loud. It is important to say them out loud, as there’s energy attached to words. Just think of how you feel when someone says, “you’re awful” verses how you feel when someone says, “you’re wonderful”.
Once you set these goals, understand that your goals take time to manifest. The universe has a plan to manifest those goals and should you focus on a specific outcome of how that goal will occur, you may block it from manifesting. To properly manifest, you need to set intentions. By setting intentions and focusing on them, you let go of any expectations you may have of how your goals will manifest. You then shift your focus to the feeling or energy to focus on that accompanies your request. This is where intentions come in.
The advice I received told me to focus on the little things. It’s like a snowball effect. Look around you right now and ask yourself what you could do to make yourself feel even better than you already do. Would I feel better if my house was cleaner? Would I feel better if I put nourishing food into my body? Would I feel better if I took the time to write out my goals? Would I feel better if I went outside under the sunshine and connected with nature? Etc... There are always simple ways of making ourselves feel better, and by focusing on the little steps they will graduate to bigger steps like a snowball effect. A snowball doesn’t jump from the size of your fist to the size of a house instantaneously; however, you can speed up the process in how fast that snowball moves down a hill. Your intentions will help you focus on the energy you are looking to manifest, rather than developing fears of how you may not reach your goals.
Here’s a simple intention:
My intention for 2019 is to wake up grateful every morning.
One of the best things you can do for yourself in the morning is to write a list of what you’re grateful for. I’m sure many of us have heard this before, but why do we do this? According to Dr. David R. Hawkin’s Ultimate Chart of Consciousness, gratitude can move your vibrational frequency up to 700. Gratitude actually reaches higher above Peace, Love, and Joy.
